Top F1 Driver Steward Dropped from Canadian Grand Prix amid Controversy

Derek Warwick has been suspended from his duties as a steward for the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix due to controversial media interviews. The 70-year-old, with four grand prix podiums, was set to serve as a steward in Montreal but was suspended by the FIA. Warwick’s comments criticized current drivers like Lando Norris and Lance Stroll. The FIA released a statement confirming Warwick’s suspension and Enrique Bernoldi replacing him for the weekend. Warwick apologized for his remarks and is expected to return as a steward in the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix. Warwick is the second F1 steward this year to face consequences for providing quotes to a betting company. Johnny Herbert was also ousted from his steward role for similar actions ahead of the 2025 season.
